CLS the Movie January 6, 2009 Nikon gives a boost to their lighting products with this informative and clever tutorial. Bob Krist(veteran) and Joe McNally (newcomer) share their treasure trove of knowledge and insight to instruct the viewer just how to squeeze every last photon out of their flashes. The last video was more of an infomercial. This one explains everything fully, with thought provoking images and ideas. If you want to propel your photography into a professional atmosphere, buy this DVD. The secrets are all here. You will thank the folks at Nikon for this one.
Extraordinary learning experience January 6, 2009 Takes you step by step through Nikons lighting system as well as the basics about how to use flash to create attractive pictures. Joe McNally adds some nice tips about on location photography using flash.
Nikon's Strobist DVD, featuring Joe McNally January 6, 2009 Nikon make the best flash units/ Speed lights out there. Nikon's manuals for speed lights are hopeless so this DVD is well over due. As i watched it I couldn't help thinking that the writers had just sat and watched David Hobby's STROBIST DVD then put together a highlights DVD for the lectures and then pulled in Joe McNally for the practical's.
This is a good DVD but its no substitute for the 8 DVD Strobist pack which inspired it.
Joe McNally rocks, can't wait for his new book "The Hot Shoe Diaries: Creative Applications of Small Flashes" Available for Pre-Order at Amazon.

Marvelously Made! December 29, 2008 I really enjoyed viewing this DVD tutorial. When I started I did not even want to stop until it was finished. They made difficult shooting conditions seem easy. I am a big fan on nikon CLS system having owned at least 4 nikon Speedlights (1 SB600, 2 SB800 and 1 SB900)......after viewing this DVD it makes me want to get more haha!! As crazy as it may seem, just watch this video tutorial and you will be amazed. I love it and certainly will continue to view it over and over again. It's a great way to learn....just go ahead and buy it....you will not regret every penny of what you spend for this DVD.
Very well produced December 27, 2008 Purchased this DVD after seeing it recommended on the [...] website. Overall an excellent video introduction to off camera lighting using shoe mounted strobes. The video is produced by Nikon and therefore has only exclusive instructions for their equipment, but even though I am a Canon shooter I thought there was still a huge amount of the video that was relevant for me. The on-location work by Joe McNally is really what is so valuable in this video. Just watching him work and listening to his thought process was extremely informative.
